For sale is my nearly brand new Birdsong C5, a 5 String short scale bass in mint condition. Only about 4 or so hours of playtime, the strings still have that new string snappiness to them. I have two other Birdsong's, both 4 strings, and I simply can't get comfortable on the 5. After going back to the 4 I don't see myself needing the extra string or notes for my playing style, so here's a chance to save big ($500) on the price/wait of a new one! Completed and delivered to me in November of 2018.

    • Spanish Cedar body with matching headstock
    • Rosewood fretboard
    • Maple neck
    • 8 lbs
    • Passive electronics
    • 50mm width at the nut (1.9685")
    • 17mm string spacing
    • 31" scale - same as Birdsong's four string basses
    • Strung B-G
    • Kent Armstrong Soapbar pickups (I *think* Scott still uses KA pickups, if not he uses a custom spec based on the KA would be my guess)
Ships FREE in the US48 with your choice of hardshell case or soft gig bag. PayPal only.

The 5 feels a bit odd but it’s my first 5 and I have nothing else to compare it to. I’m sticking with my fretless 5 string for now but do wish it were a 4 sometimes. My walnut C bass showed up today. Something tells me there will be a third someday. I love these basses.

I just got it set up properly yesterday and am still undecided on the chrome flats. But I had an awesome session on it afterwords. The maple neck is gorgeous and it plays really fast though I'm partial to rosewood most often. That said it sounds full and punchy. At this point it's probably my favorite bass to play for the simple ergonomics.

I think I'm most curious about the Fusion or a Fusion body with a Delano pickup that is fretless. So much goodness. A regular corto would be great too.. So many to want!

I'm hoping some lucky 5 string player grabs this up, these are serious, nice bases that can hang with some big guns~!

Nice bass. What's the LED looking thing under the B string?

The B string is double strung through the body. What you're seeing is the ball end of the B string. It goes through the body (front to back) and then through the body again (back to front).

It's the string ferrule, the B string is double string through on Birdsong 5 strings

What’s the scale length? Is this 31” like the four stringers? How does low C or C# sound? Thanks.

Same scale length as the others. I'm going to double check later with a tape measure, but I believe the only difference is the width of the neck to accommodate the B string. The low C/C# sound great IMO. I played this a bit at a gig when I got it and it was so low and rumbling through the stage system, it was nice!

Same here. I’d take it immediately but lack funds.
