Hello Talkbass, For sale is my Birdsong Piccolo bass. The style is a Cortobass, mahogany body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard. One small blemish where fret markers were applied on the side of the neck (see picture). The dot seems to have pushed in a bit, but it has no effect on the playing. Asking price is $1000, with gig bag and free shipping in the continental US. Lovely bass, piccolo just never turned into a thing for me. The bass was built for piccolo strings. I don't think you can fit normal sized strings on this bass without a little work on the nut. Just wanted to make sure I added that
Hi, I am not at home right now (work break) but my best guess is the 7lb range. Most Birdsong's with mahogany bodies weigh in the 7lb range, and this one doesn't feel too heavy compared to other mahogany bodied Birdsong's I've played.. I will try to get a more accurate weight for you.
The bass is built for piccolo strings, so the nut would need to be replaced or modified to fit standard strings.
Birdsongs are 31" short scales. Here is the website link to the Cortobass model, only difference (besides the price!) is that the bass I am selling is set up as a piccolo. Birdsong Here is a link from Birdsong that demos the Cortobass. The bass Scott is applying oil to in the beginning of the video is the same bass I am selling:
Thank you for the reply! Not interested in trades right now, just hoping to find a home for a bass that doesn't get played enough
The pickups are the standard Cortobass pickups, which I believe are Lace Sensor pickups (I am not at home right now so I will double check later). The bass is volume, volume, tone. Thanks for your questions!
Price drop down to $1000! I am not playing this bass and would love to see it find a new home Free shipping (insured) within the continental US!
Getting a nut made is not expensive, great price on this bass! I'm not in the market, but if someone is looking for a super high quality short scale, these are it, especially if you like skinny necks. The pickups sound great by the way (both lace if stock), both on their own and in a mix. I prefer both up full with the tone all the way up, strung with flats.
Damn!! Deal alert!! These things just don't get the respect they deserve, I have to many Birdsongs...or I would snap this up for a rainy day project.
