Scott Beckwith, the man behind Birdsong, has become known for making some of the highest quality short scale basses out there, all by hand from his workshop in Texas. This is literally the only semi-hollow model he ever made, a true unicorn.

This Birdsong is medium scale rather than the usual short scale, but it's a difference of only an inch. It's got a walnut body with a rosewood back, a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, and a single stacked V/T knob.

The single Delano Xtender pickup is very powerful. This bass sounds deep and woody but can really bite with the tone rolled up. With the zero fret, even open strings sound punchy.

Only visible wear I can see is a little bit of rubbing around the pickup, which I tried to photograph.

Comes with a very sturdy Gator hard shell case.

It was built in 2016 and listed for about twice what I am asking. No trades, sorry.

Are there any sound clips or videos for this bass? I have always loved the look of this one.

Sadly not. But there are probably videos of Birdsongs with one or two Delano pickups that would give you a pretty good idea. Before I traded for it, I looked around on Youtube for a video of any bass with a single Delano pickup; I found one and really liked what I heard. When I received this bass, it sounded like I remembered from that video. Arguments about tone wood and other variables aside, it's a deep and powerful pickup with a little more brightness--and a lot more output--than the Kent Artmstrongs that were on the Corto I had.
