BL wants us to wear "Band" shirts.

  1. Oh lordy yes. ANY shorts at our age, in fact. Unless it's a beach gig and then you bust out the Jams or Birdwells. Or unless your wheels are tanned and ripped.

Florida can be hot as heck, and if all your gigs are outside then maybe it's time for a deliberately "beach" look and to buy some sandals.

Otherwise ditch the shorts. I haven't done out door gigs in a while, but my previous gig had quite a few shows in the Chicago summer. Even in the 90's with ungodly humidity it was still jeans and boots for me.

  3. Everyone keeps talking about the band being a trio. But, I'm pretty sure there's four of them. Two guitars, a bass and drum.

  4. And for those wondering what "Air Dad's" are:

  7. I musta missed the part about the '51 P. I guess I'll have to go back and re-read the entire thread, in case I missed anything else.
  8. Yep.

"Sanctity"??? lol, can you be a little more melodramatic?

You've beat your point to death now about not liking the shirt. We get it. Now it's up to OP to express his reservations and see how far he gets with his BL.

  9. So... musicians?

  10. No. More like the beer guy.
  11. I hate to join in the snark...but it's a good point.

At least BL is making the effort, even if he isn't winning any TB Fashion Awards.

Maybe a little support and well-intentioned suggestions from his band members could do them all some good.
  12. Ahh... so members of the service industry that are significantly more valuable than musicians...

I don't buy that BL crap.

Being a BL I would NEVER make any member wear something I didn't wear.

We are adults, expecting everybody to dress properly is no issue.

Drummer is being a phallic member.

I've advocated for a "Talkbass TV" channel on YouTube and I think we've got a show idea: Dressing the Band. The hosts take a band that is out in left field (fashion-wise) and goes shopping with them. Bonus points for low dollar cost makeovers. Maybe a competition between two hosts to makeover a band. : )

James McMurtry used to introduce himself at bar gigs as a beer salesman.

Right on. Chicago summers are no joke. I played in Jeans, a leather jacket, and a cheap ramones wig when it was just under 100 degrees. It was still fun.

Me too, but under those sorts of conditions I have to wear a sweatband or be blinded by my perspiration.
