So I was in my schools library researching astrology, and stumble across this website that was blocked, but the reason it was blocked confused me. Any thoughts?

It is an attempt by your library to stop people filling their heads with nonsense.

Either that, or the homepage has a picture of a hot gypsy fortune-teller with her fun bags on display.

Not sure but it may have more to do with it's a pay to talk with a live psychic site and the library may be categorizing that as a scam or porn site.

It has been suggested from time to time that several people have wasted time on the Internet.
  5. You neglected to state whether your school was a private or public school. If private, is it religious? If so, they don't want you reading things that could potentially water-down the style of beliefs they teach.

If it is a public school, the issue becomes whether they equally block all content related to beliefs. If not, that sounds like a nice case for the some civil rights or atheist organizations.

It's a public school. I guess it makes sense, but the way the system blocks contyentys is some what odd. It'll block random sites like this, but things known to have some controversial topics, like reddit and 4chan, are completely open. And the pornographic aspect, well, I've stumbled upon lot worst on deviant art, which isn't blocked.

It could be that it was banned because it is a belief based on "hate" not "fact".

True, usually if something was blocked at school, you could just put an "s" after the http and it would work.

That's what I think too. Either that, or the site was blacklisted at some point because of malware or something.

I just looked at the site: Trust me, O.P., you're not missing anything.

It's based on nonsense, but what's hateful about it? Silly, unfounded, deserving of ridicule and mockery, certainly. But who astrology is based on hate?
