I am currently using a peavey grindbass. They are pretty cheap, but its OK for slap/pop (my preffered style), and is a comfortable and easy bass to play.

however, at the minute I have the option of spending all my savings on a ridiculously cheap used Jaydee bass. I have lusted over one for ages, they were the main axe of mark king for years and have an amazing slap tone, much better than my peavey's. They are also supposed to be fast and easy to play. I would love to get it but it would mean spending all my saved money, which might have otherwise gone toward a used Trace head in the near future.

any ideas on what I should do? How much better than my peavey would it be? If anyone has a Jaydee i would like a bit of opinion on them
    Cheers

  2. Hello, yeah I had a 1985 mark king jaydee, and they are sweet, :bassist: is going to be wayyyyyyyyyyyy better than your peavey, they are fast and have a real nice neck shape, and no matter which one you get they all have that twang that you reconize straight away, do it, but beware they are heavy, once done a 3 hour gig with it :help: felt like a hunchback for 3 days
only sold mine cuz I needed the money the start my own bass building thing. :bawl: I'd have it back in a mo, but it went to italy! :rollno:

  3. Only thing I have to say is make sure you know what you want before you buy it. Ive been through several basses, and Ive only just now found "my" bass. For a long time, I thought a Musicman Stingray was for me, but when I played one finally, it didnt feel like me. Dont drop a load of cash on something because its neat, or you just ahve the money. Make sure you can play it before you buy it, or even better, get like a 30 day return policy, so you can make sure its just for you.

    Good luck,
    Dave
