Blown Speaker in my 6x10

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Chris3142, Nov 11, 2003.

  1. So, I blew the bottom, left speaker in my 6x10 Ampeg cab. I Need to buy a replacement, but I don't know what to buy. What power/ohms do i need? any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  2. open up the cab and find out what kind of speakers are in it...then just seek out the manufacturer and order a new one.

Its almost always best to get the exact replacement from the manufacturer. Most are made by Eminence, but manufacturers order them to a certain specification which Eminence usually doesn't offer in their "stock" speakers. Your cabinet is specifically tuned to the speakers characteristics. Putting a speaker with different specs in there might lead to overtones you don't like as well as other potential issues.
  4. they are 6 ohms. two of my speakers have been blown and i have been waiting for replacements for about 4 months now, at least.
