Bluesman Vintage '62 "El Dorado" Jazz Bass Relic
Lake Placid Blue w/ Matching Headstock

I bought this bass a few months ago from the original owner, here on TB. It's a truly lovely bass, the neck feels incredible, and it's as easy to play as it gets. But, I'm selling it because I just built a '60 Jazz replica (to my personal specs), and now this beauty isn't getting enough action for me to justify keeping it.. and my wallet could use some cash in it now. So I'm not looking for any trades at this time. Here's the specs:

    • Relic'd Nitro LPB Finish (turning green)
    • Rosewood Slab Fretboard
    • Hipshot Reverse-wind Tuners
    • Celluloid 4-ply Tort Pickguard (Relic'd)
    • David Allen Pickups ('70s spacing)
    • Creation Audio Labs Redeemer Circuit
    • All Aged/Relic'd Hardware

Acccording to the PO, this was the last bass to leave the Bluesman Vintage shop with the "old" Fender shaped headstock. There's also a YouTube video of this particular bass HERE that (TB member) Jaymi made while it was still originally for sale (I hope posting the link is ok with you Jaymi - if not, let me know and I'll remove it). It has a white PG in the vid, but the PO had Bluesman Vintage switch it to tort before it shipped out (which I think looks way better!).

The bass has no issues and no mods, just like it left the shop. It sounds fantastic, plays like butter, and it's a featherweight at just a hair under 8 lbs!

Comes with a nice vintage style hard shell case, and is strung with the original Curtis Magnan roundwound strings (which are still in good shape).

    Gorgeous bass. GLWTS!

Question for you: do you know if all of the Bluesman Vintage J-Basses have 70's pickup spacing?

Thank you! I believe the '62 El Dorado model (which is what this one is) comes standard with '70s P/U spacing. I don't know why, but that seems to be the case with the others that I've seen pics of.

These are amazing basses. Love the LPB aging on this one.

FYI, the Eldorados are not standard 70's spacing, John does both. I have 60's spacing on both of mine.

Thanks for clarifying! Yeah, I really think the finish on this bass kills any other relic LPB finish that I've ever seen! BV especially nailed the way it's turning green (with blue in the the more worn areas), just like the real ones from the '60s!

Although the '70s spacing isn't "period correct" for a real vintage Fender, this bass does sound incredible! It has such a mean growl to it, but roll the tone back and it can be very smooth too!
