It's beautiful, but check out the weight on this Kiloton Tribute! It's a wonder that anyone would buy it at all!

Yup...if it was a 70s era Jazz, I’d be all over it with that weight..

    Canada, Eh!
    Maybe it's a typo, and it's really 7 pounds, 11 oz...

Yes, the translucent finished Swamp Ash Kiloton Tributes are heavy..... Every one I've seen a weight for, comes in over 10lbs, including my Irish Ale at 10ib 2oz. That demo on Sweetwater at 11lb 7oz would be too much for me, that's for sure!
(NB. Even the solid colour basswood models tend to be north of 9lb.)

Saw that one. It is a beast. Sweet looking bass.

The body color is reminiscent of Smithwicks.

Sweetwater got four of the new Lakland purple Geezer Butler models in last week. All were over 11 lbs. They sold out within three days.

  11. I mean....it has "kiloton" (i.e. 1000 tons) right in the name. If it was named the milligram, there would be cause for concern.

  13. I play a bass that weighs 13lbs, that bass would be a nice, lovely break from what I usually play.

My local music store got one of these in recently and last time I was there three different sales guys asked me if I tried picking it up yet :roflmao: "Check out how heavy this thing is!" Yep, sure is heavy. But somebody will like it.

Lots of people don’t mind the weight! I’m not one of those people.

It's called "Kiloton" for a reason, right?

  20. I’ve had two basses that were heavier than that but they were a 6 string Warwick thumb and a conklin GT7 7 string. How the hell can a 4 string be that heavy?
