So I am looking at SX basses for travelling, and cant help but notice they have Alder bodies. I currently have a 12 year old MIM Jazz bass that has what I recall being a Basswood body. Does this sound right? If so, I am thinking that the Alder SX body has better tone than a Basswood MIM body. Assuming the work on the SX is up to snuff, would it make sense to swap the bodies, so I have my fender neck on the SX body? I am going to de-fret the SX neck when i get home from travelling. Thanks

There was some discussion about the interchangeability of Fender and SX bodies and necks, and IIRC, the bolt holes are located differently and there's a little bit of size difference.

Wait for it to arrive and you'll see which sounds better.

You may be better off just doing a pickup swap if you think it sounds bad...and try that. Mine came perfectly set up, and it sounds great...
