Anyone tried wenge as a full on body wood...i have a nice peice of 2x4x40", but i really havent herd of anyone using it as a body, not just as a top.

bass is goin to be a 6 string, maple/iron wood neck ( yes, i know im asking for a sore back )

was going to make it similar to the warwick thumb, tiny lil heavy body.

I once played an all Wenge Warwick thumb and it had a godly sound unlike any other Warwick Ive ever played.

Well, I would be a bit concerned about the wood stability... Wenge has the reputation to be really unstable. But that's a reputation.

thanks alot guys.......now just to figure out a body style for it : )

and the chunk is 2"x4"x40".......so the body is gonna be pretty small ( cant go very big though anyways, the neckis gonna be huge how it is, since i like big finger spacing )

  9. Better watch out for neck dive - I can see it coming.

Indeed, I wouldn't be afriad of wenge. From the accounts of others I've read, any stability issues appear to be related to how dry the pieces actually are. In other words, make sure its good & dry.

yea i know.....cant really get around it much without making the back end so heavy its disgusting.

this lik 2x4 peice of wenge must way at least 10-15 pounds..that plus the neck, this babys probly gonna weigh in at 20pounds total when im done.
