    Bogart Blackstone 4-String Fretless Headless
    - $599 shipped/Paypalled CONUS

Got this awesome German-made bass from a fellow TGP'er on trade. I have owned it for awhile now. I love this bass enough that it inspired me to pull the trigger on a custom fretted Bogart bass - they're running a sale on new build this Summer, so Shell Pink custom now in the pipeline! I really want to have them make me a fretless with some different specs (never been a MM pickup fan, for example), but I won't pull the trigger until I sell off the 2 fretless basses I already have. I'm a guitarist, so I need multiple fretless basses like I need a hole in the head.

This bass originally sported a Bartolini MM and a Noll 2-band pre-amp. I really didn't care for it - specifically, not enough control over the mids. I took a chance on going passive with a Delano MM pickup. I also wired in a balance pot to pan between the coils of the MM pickup. Overall, this arrangement sounds more way better - more dynamic and just as loud as the active Noll/Bart it had previously. I sold off the Bart/Noll, so not included.

The combination of the carbon graphite neck and composite body make for unbelievable sustain and a very authoritative sound. It's an AMAZING sounding bass! The neck is a dream to play. The neck is headless, with string retainers where the tuners would normally be, thus a more traditional look.

Note some paint blemishes on the front of the bass at the neck/body joint area. Since it's not made of wood, it's of no consequence. The previous owner used roundwounds, so you can see some scuffing on the fretboard - strictly cosmetic. If you run your finger over it it is absolutely smooth - not rutted at all. It is phenolic afterall.

Weirdest tuning set up I've seen. Cool.

Sure, it's a player, but if you're passing this one up because of the cosmetic stuff, you're missing out on a fantastic playing, fantastic sustaining and fantastic sounding fretless! The neck is a real treat.

Wow. I haven't seen one of these since the early 90's. Do they still have the Beelzebub, and Basstard models?

Either they aren't or those models have been renamed.
