    Price:
    $4000
    Strings:
    4
    Location:
    District Of Columbia
Beautiful playing bass with a warm sound that sounds great both pizz and arco. No longer my style and looking to find it a new home. I purchased this bass in March of 2016 from Upton who did a full rebuild of it.

    NEW Price: $4000
    Interested in trades:
    Vintage P Basses
    Fender Custom Shop Basses
    F Basses
    Moollon P
    All tube head plus cash

    Features

    Flatback
    E and A Evahs
    D and G Spiro
    Upton Rev Solo Pick up
    Upton bumpers
    Carbon Fiber end pin

    From Upton
Late 19th Century smaller gamba-pattern flat back, just sorted by Upton including new bridge and fingerboard. Extended plank for the soloist.

Could be an ideal chamber music instrument, or a soulful jazz bass with a smaller footprint (well under 20 lbs!). Bright, quick voice, very responsive and warm. This reminds us of the Italian Pearwood bass we had last year, valued at nearly $100K.

Absolutely magnetic vintage piece! Refreshed and ready – add a Rev Solo and a Mooradian bag and gig for 125 more years.

    Measurements:

    • Upper Bout: 19.5″
    • C Bout: 13.5″
    • Lower Bout: 24″
    • Length of Back: 41″
    • Rib Depth: 5 – 7.25″
    • String Length: 41.25″
    • Neck: D
    • Weight: 18.6 lbs

Is this bass still available? If so, are you able to post sound clips of both pizz and arco?

    Thanks!

I've played the pearwood bass that upton had that was similar to this -

if this is anything like that, for this price, someone will be very happy.

Wish we are closer - I have a 59 P that I am looking to sell to fund a DB just like this one (slightly smaller body). But I live in Colorado so I guess its not meant to be....way more than 10 hr drive unfortunately!

Does this mean the bass has been sold? If so, rats. But congratulations just the same.
