Great. Now the Supreme Court has officially made school principals - and, by extension, the government - responsible for parenting other people's children. What's next - kids getting suspended from school for being caught drinking at a party?

Schools are waaaaaay out of line when they start punishing kids for behaviors that occur outside of school. That's the parent's job. Period.

 

I think you missed the point -- It was a school event with teachers present. So, technically, the kid *was* at school.

And, the kid was just doing it to be a wise ass because the principal had pissed him off.

Face it -- The kid had no case. I'm really surprised it went as far as it did.

Technically, he wasn't on school property, so I don't see how the school could legally punish him for doing what he did.

Technically, he was also a dumb*** who probably got what he deserved on at least some level.

This is a free speech issue, the drug reference is incidental. If pot wasn't illegal in Federal law, there would be no controversy.

The Supreme Court got it wrong. This was a political decision on their part.

Edit: He was on a public sidewalk adjacent to the school, not on school grounds.
