I ordered my new Bongo 6, HS fretless back in May and was told it would take 7 months for it to arrive. Got a call on Wednesday: It's in. Picked it up on Thursday...I will let the pics do the talking.

Nice case, and I thought the Bongo 6 emblem particularly nice
    bongo6b.

Delivered clean, and without a single scratch or fingerprint

    bongo6a.

    Let's unwrap that beast

    bongo6g.

Ooh, you know I like red basses

    bongo6h.

    bongo6c.

    bongo6d.

    bongo6e.

    bongo6f.

Side by side with my Bongo 5

    bongo6i.

Plays great right out of the box, and that neck is to die for. Everything I like about my Bongo 5 and more.

    Thanks for the GAS!;)

  3. That bass breaks so many of my 'rules' it's not funny, but somehow it works. Don't want it but I like looking at it. :)

Impressive. Love the color. Looks elegant.

Since it's fretless, that must be a pau ferro (rather than rosewood) board, right?

I really love the sixer version of the Bongo. There's something about that extra bit of metal that seems to complete the look for me.

    Oh, hell, yeah.

  13. Is it just me, or do Bongos look better with more strings? Normally can't stand them, this one looks alright.

    Enjoy your purchase. :)

You are correct sir, pau ferro finger board. It is a neat design how they have profiled the back of the neck: They must apply the finger board and then shape the neck as one piece. The back of the neck is continuous with the sides of the finger board. The edge of the finger board is not squared off where it meets the side of the neck, it is curved so everything at the sides is like it is all one piece. Sorry not a good explaination, and any pictures I have tried to take have not told the story either. It is the slickest feeling neck I have ever played.

  15. That looks absolutely wonderful. Congrats!

Wow. I finally got rid of my GAS too.

I like how they're putting the model on the case now, when you have a bunch of cases, I've been labeling them with tape. This new label is quite nice.

  17. Thats a stunner.

Let the Bongo haters slag them, and you just enjoy that bass.

  18. A logo to correspond with the beauty of the instrument beneath it.

I bet that sounds incredible. I eagerly await your review of it.

Daaaang...why do Bongos have to be so sexy with six strings? I don't even play 6 strings and I want one...:(

Really though, I think the wider neck just fills out the body shape better, makes it look a little bit more deliberate than the 4's or 5's. They're just a bit more mismatched with body size vs. neck. IMO. Still cool basses though :)

Those Bongos are some of the most impressive looking sixers I have seen in a while. I bet they give boutique sixers a serious run for their money.:D
