Does anyone know anything about boost pedals? Looking for something I can use to push my svt into overdrive and give me a mid boost. I like one knob pedal. From what I've read and heard on youtube Jfet is up my alley. JHS mini bomb and Desire Boost by lotus pedals are the two I've found that look good so far. Anyone know of any others or have any advice?
I've had great results with my recently purchased "Homebrew Electronics Bajo Mas Bass Boost" . single knob
playing a G&L sb2 now and when i favour the neck pick up its hard not to get some overdrive at any volume. If I can get a pedal to kick it up some more I wouldn't need an od pedal and it would be pure amp od.
all kidding aside from the sound clips i've heard i want one. going to hold off and see if one shows up in the classifieds.
I use an EHX Linear Line Boost. I bought it for my guitar originally but it works great on my bass as well. Kicks it up nicely with a little extra growl.
Totally agree!! I dont even like pink, but that sparkle. Oh man! And that big knob! mmmmmm, effin sexy! haha plus its a great boost IMO. As far as a slightly colored boost, I would try the Southampton Fifth Gear. It sounds great, keeps your low end in tact, adds some drive and sparkle, probably mids too, can really grind, its small, very well made and is not too expensive at all. Hamish is a great dude to work with as well. I use one now as a boost. It drives my all tube Electric like a champ. Ive used the W&C Phat Phuk B as well. Really liked that one. But it was muddying up my sound due to the fact of all the other tone shapers I am running. If I was running only one preamp, it would most likely still be on my board. I use the DOD Bifet fx10 preamp/boost as well. LOVE this pedal!! Its so cool. Goes from super dub to super treble boost to everything in between and a perfect balance and relatively clean and uncolored at noon. And its got tons of boost on tap. Really awesome boost IMO. One of my favs if not THE one. I also had and tried the EP booster as well. While I thought it was great at first, it let me down in the mix. It too was muddy. Now that may have been for the same reason I stated above as with the PPB, but I dont think it was. I ran the EP @ 18v and I did try it without all the tone shapers too. It sounds great but with my setup, it was fighting me like a mofo. I needed something that could bring some clarity and punch to the table with my setup. I found that with the Fifth Gear and the DOD FX10. Thanks @DirtyDuke ! .......and hamish
