If I was to plug an active (and passive) bass into a BOSS AB-2 2-way switch - if I left my basses plugged in, would it drain the battery in my active bass?

  2. Yes, leaving cables plugged into active basses drains the battery (IME).

Correct. If there is a jack plugged into the jack socket on an active bass then it is draining the battery. Even if you leave a jack plugged in while it sits at home on its stand the battery is being used.

OK thanks. Too bad there was no way to leave an active bass plugged in - would be a lot less hassle, especially when attached to a stomp box switch.

If you leave the cables plugged in, you'll also kill the batteries in the AB-2.

You can always install a switch on the AB-2. I did.

I eventually replaced the switch with a jack and hooked it up with a 3 vDC power supply.
