    What RB says.

I've had the BF3 and got rid of it. Not that it was a bad pedal, I just found it a bit "sterile" for my taste. I did like its pan function, though, but did not have any real use for it other than mock-sequencer (took 4 pedals to achieve this sound, so...).

No essssperienssss with the MXR. But I like the fact that its analog, compared to the digital Boss.

I've owned both and the MXR wins hands down. Not even a comparison.

I have the Boss BF-3. I am sure there are better flangers out there, but it was cheap, and I can do a lot with it. Wet and jet style flanging, chorus, even a ring-mod sound of sorts. Very versatile for the price.

Thank you for the replies so far good information. The reason I went with these two pedals for a choice was they are relatively close in price and are both readily available. If you have a suggestion for a better Flanger then tell me what it is. But I don't want to spend 300.00 or more at this time.

I have the EVH Flanger (same as 117 + EVH preset button). It's one of my favorites. For me it's 3 effects in one, flanger, phaser and chorus. IMO a great quality unit with a nice thick analog sound. I can't tell about the BF-3.

One thing that may make a difference to you: the BF-3 is a standard Boss 9V pedal. The MXR is an 18V pedal. Depending on how you power your pedals, that could be important.
