This is the second time they've teased this thing here and then here two weeks ago. As someone who primarily uses dirt for an effect and not much else, I'm giddy. EDIT: Nope, it's something else entirely. Sigh.
That's fine, I'll happily buy their barely used Waza version for a fraction of what a 30 year old beat to pus version of the original costs.
You can get an old HM-2 for about $100 if you're a tad patient. I'm guessing the Waza will be at least $150. Curious to see what the extra mode is.
...and I was wrong. Dunno how it sounds, or if/which of these is an HM2 sim but it's not what I wanted, c'est la vie. There's a couple more of these pedals in the same series all announced today: Boss Announces 200 Series, an Entirely New Format of Pedal (original post updated with link, as well, so I'm no longer false advertising)
I'm not an effects junkie who follows this stuff, so I dunno, but I presume it had something to do with the same features they had rolled into the Boss DS1x. Presumably digital effects, yes, in this case not unlike the Aftershock. YMMV. I'm not close minded against it, but it wasn't what I was gonna open my wallet and pre-order either.
If it has a clean blend control I’ll be very interested. The drives on the MS3 sound great on bass and all have clean blend.
Best hm2 alternative is the byoc Swede. I a/b tested with 2 other real ones and can't tell the difference. It has the same chip as the old japan ones
Too bad they ditched the suboctave drive off the OD-20. Hmm starting to gas for the OD-20 and DD-20, I wonder if these will further drive down the used prices on the old doubles...
