I'm seriously considering the ME-50B to replace my Digitech BP200, in fact, I've already got the Digitech sold (on eBay), so Lord willing, it's inevitable. I've decided I cannot part with the Bass XCiter so I might try to incorporate it with the BOSS. Whaddya think...should it be first in my effects chain?

I would put it last, thats what the manual recommends, and leave it on constantly.

The ME-50b is my main bass effect. After trying an Aphex Bass XCiter. I'm thinking seriously about buying one. Let us know how it goes.

If your amplifier has a series effects loop, the Exciter should go there, not in between your ME50b and your preamp. An exciter/sonic maximizer type device, when possible, should be placed just before actual power amplification of the signal (post preamp, post effects, post eq) to achieve the most benefit from that particular effect.

so let me get this right. the bass xciter should be run through the effects loop? how do i "run" it through the effects loop? just plug it's output into the effects loop? how does it grab a signal. or is there an effects loops out, and then into the xciter, and then back in through an effects loop in?!

  6. Definately put it last. I have the GT-6B, and I have been contemplating getting one. I tried it with my FX and Bass 400+ and it just sounded soooo awesome!
Edit: I'm assuming you put your 50B in the FX loop. You need to put the exciter right before the power stage, as someone mentioned. To hook it up, put the FX out into the exciter in and the exciter out into the FX in. Its pretty simple...

Plain Old Me is correct with the hook up. Also, placing it in your effects loop is based upon the loop being series and not parallel. How can you tell? Do you have a blend or FX Loop mix pot on your amp? Does your amp's manual state the loop is 50/50? If none of these conditions exist it is most likely series and you are good to go placing the exciter in your FX loop.

So I should run the ME50B between my bass and the amp, and use the effects loop only for the XCiter?

That is correct. Your Xciter should be the very last thing before your power amp.
