I know lots of guys here play those 6 string things too. I was on rondo and i saw the word Spalt and i was like, ***. So i click and see one of their Agile AL series with a spalt and i was really attracted to the black cherry finish (natural looked a little weird on a guitar) and i bought one for my own use when working on my chord theory and stuff and for my guitarist(s) in my band to use as a backup for gigs.

Great deal for $273 shipped with a hardcase

I don't blame you for getting it!
  4. I currently have this in a black finish/red tort p/u combo

I've been looking at these two for a while.

Jazzmaster copy. If they made a more realistic Jaguar or Jazzmaster copy I'd be holding it in my arms right now.

And a Rickenbacker esqe guitar, although I'm not as crazy about semi-hollows as I was.

  9. Is there something in the air?

I just bought a 6 string also, a G&L Tribute, and it is beyond nice.

    Good luck with it, Figjam.

Maybe next year we'll have to have a bass and guitar get-together. ;)

Looks sweet man, I've got myself a stratacoustic, and I've actually been debating picking up a epiphone casino.

I can't really play the guitar that well, but I temporarilly cured my bass GAS, so I guess I had to start looking at something else.

A couple of years ago I bought a used Epiphone AlleyKat to fool around with. Then I caught the bug and ended up buying a new Fender American Deluxe Ash Strat in an Aged Cherryburst finish. It is a beautiful guitar. I bought it for no better reason than I wanted to fool around with it. Sometimes my GAS goes beyond my love of bass. I had a guy call me a "gear whore" once....I can live with that.

Those Agile Les Pauls are damn fine guitars. I have one with P-90s and I am really happy with it.
  13. Did anyone here buy a guitar to punish their Ma? :bag:

Interestingly enough, I have 5 electric guitars, 2 acoustics, yet only 3 basses. But that natural spalted threatens to make 6 electrics.

OK so it came and now that ive spent a day with it ill let you guys in. (ill have pics soonish)

First of all teh top looks great. Under teh black cherry finish it is amazing. Lovely quilt and spalt :)

After setting it up for an hour, and putting new strings on, it sounds and plays great. It plays just as good as any guitar ive played, and doesnt appear to have anything wrong with it. It really sounds awesome too. I took it to a friends house who plays guitar and he liked it as well.

Cant get anything better for this price, nor twice this price.
    Great buy.

I just got their last Agile AL-3000 Prestige goldtop for $299: http://www.rondomusic.net/al3000prest.html

god damn! I used to have a '79 LP and I can't tell any obvious difference. All the reviews of the AL-3000 I've seen corroborate that it's on a par with $1100 Epiphones, and even if you get a Gibson, you'll still want to change the pickups.

My question is: how do they do it at this price point? I wanted a goldtop, but with an ebony fingerboard, which Gibson doesn't even make. Mine is 11 1/2 pounds, a solid mahogany body (no maple cap, as I preferred because I doubt they make any difference sonically), one piece mahogany neck, Grover tuners. The pickups are no worse than I'd get with Epiphone or Gibson, though they're not Seymours. The finish, binding, etc. is perfect, and it's great looking. I'd only seriously consider upgrading the bridge, but on the other hand half the G.H.S. (Gear-Having Syndrome) is due to my knowing I got the thing for $299. It was the floor model and only had scratches on the pickguard.

Only flaw ive found in mine is one flaw in the finish, looks like after they were done, one little spot got an extra drop or something or it pressed against something and bubbled or w/e, didnt even notice it bc its on the back edge.
