I picked up a used MIM P bass. Figured Id do a few mods (trying to get a little Pino Palladino vibe without visiting the Fender custom shop)....

Got the bass for less than $300 shipped. Heck, the thumbrest on my Rob Allen custom mouse cost about that much. Would the bass work for me?

The Fender sounds and plays great. Pure delight. I'm a convert.

I have one of the MIM 50's Classic P's; and it's a gem, thru and thru.

wow! So after spending all that mad $$$ on your boutiques are you going crazy??

I am with you on the MIM P-bass...Just picked up mine after having sold one about 6 months ago..big mistake. Live and learn, but my new one is a great bass and a good player with that nice p-bass tone.

Gonna drop some flats on her tomorrow night and really get that thump goin'!

    SWEET bass BTW!

Rob Allen should be ashamed of himself. I'm sure he's not.

  19. When we were in Walmart, my wife was trying to be sarcastic by saying that a Walmart mountain bike costs the same as the saddle on my road bike. I just snickered.
    (She was right.)
Thing is, a Walmart bike will get you just as sweaty as an expensive road bike.
Just like a MIM will get you a good groove just like a boutique bass.
You just have to ask yourself if you want to fly first-class or coach.

  20. And there is something nice about playing a less "______" instrument. My main player is a Zon Sonus, which I love, but I enjoy my Mexi Jazz, too. Lobster is great, but there ain't nothing wrong with PB&J!
