Hells yeah. En route, should be here Tuesday.

Kawai F2B, with Zebrawood top, and a defret (gasp! He hath gone fretless!) done by Rauen Guitars. Maple/walnut neck, and I'm rather sure a maple body. The [ed - the body core] color is a good shade or two darker than the maple in the neck though, so I'm not postive. A light bit of Mahogany, maybe? I know they used that for some bodies, but those usually had maple top/backs.

Should be a hoot. Come to papa, baby.

Actually, the top and back look like zebrawood.

Sorry, worded it poorly: I was speculating about the core wood. I indicated in my original post I knew it was a Zebrawood top.

    I knows me some woods.

You know I am getting old. Why did you confuse me like that? Do you hate me or something?

I've read up on them, here on TB and the internet at large, and the only woods mentioned are maple and mahogany bodies. Pretty much every source I've seen say's it's Zebrawood/maple combo. It's entirely possible that's what it is, but it's just so uniformly darker than the neck that I question it's species.

The color does look more like alder. I don't think I have ever seen any maple that dark. But who knows. There was a member here a couple of years ago that really knew a lot about these basses. But I can't remember who it was.
