Who is the bassist on the Brecker Brothers live version of "Some Skunk Funk" from the cd "Brecker Brothers Collection Vol 2". Just curious because he plays some great stuff on that bad boy.

Oops, this version is not with Will Lee on bass, but Marcus Miller. I hope I got it right this time - I don't have the album here to verify. Anyway, it's one of them.

    ...hmmmm-
    It's NOT Neil Jason?
If this version was culled from Heavy Metal Bebop(with Terry Bozzio), it's Jason!
(Jason has that "Classic single coil-Fender Jazz-bridge pickup-growl" tone).

    I'm thinking this was pre-Marcus Miller(like the mid-'70s)...?

Well, it's a live version on Collection vol. 2...but it's one of the three in any case. Honest now.

    JMX-
"OK", I hadda go dig into my Brecker albums(VINYL)-
Found two with "Some Skunk Funk":
The Brecker Brothers, from '75, has Will Lee.
Heavy Metal Bebop, from '78, is LIVE & has Neil Jason.
    Where's the third version? I'm drawing a blank...is it an import?! ;)

...and that 'sig' of your's is all too true! Funny stuff!

Jim, you're probably right. I had to search over the net, and The Collection Vol.2 lists Lee,Miller and Jason as bassists, but I didn't find an exact tracklist. I somehow didn't associate Jason with that song (probably only because I don't know much about him, and I thought it's more Lee/Miller-style).

Oh, and thanks for commenting on my sig, the dubya quote wasn't pc anymore, probably would've made Zulufunk freak out even more ;)
