If you get a chance, check out the April issue of Vintage Guitar Magazine. There is a nice spread on Brian Bromberg posing with his slabs AND his upright. Man, that thing looks OLD! In the Q&A he identifies it as a 18th century bass (1700's) and says he hasn't been able to find out anything about the maker. It was made in Italy but was in the shop in New York in 1861 for service. So it had to have come across the pond a long, long time ago. Interesting history, no doubt.

    Cheers!
