if a body is drilled for a gotoh 201, will a badass II be a direct fit? also...would there be a noticeable difference in tone?

  2. I believe that the two would be interchangeable.

As to the tone question - There's absolutely no way of telling. There are so many variables in bass materials, construction, and physiology and there are even infinite differences between individual instruments. The bridge has more mass and that generally effects tone but you can't tell in advance how much of what.

  3. the baddassII does have a bigger footprint than the Gotoh- make sure that there's enough space on the bass body to accomodate it-
I've just fitted a Gotoh 201 to my Yamaha RBX270F
; it's a perfect fit (the original bridge was a 5screw Fender-style thin plate type), but a BadassII would hang over the body edge.

well...i found out it's not a gotoh 201. it's something from allparts. it has one screw for each of the four corners. i'm still trying to decide if i should jump on this bass, or wait and save for something else.
