I have a Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Bass. I would like to replace the bridge with a traditional four-saddle version. Does anyone know of a replacement bridge that could use the existing screw holes? Photo attached. Thanks.
This may work: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=360680263533 Or this: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=281125176902 You would have to ask sellers for screw mounting dimensions, plate dimensions and string spacing. The alternative is to drill your bass for standard fender 5 screw pattern. Then you would have countless alternatives.
Thanks for the help. I don't think those two on eBay will fit. I measured the following: Dimensions of bridge: 3 1/8" x 1 1/2" Distance between back position screws, center to center: 2 1/2" Distance between front position screws, center to center: 2 3/4" Spacing from center of E string to center of G string at bridge: 2 1/8" I think even if I drill new holes, there might be an issue finding another bridge with that spacing -- it is a medium scale bass.
Looks like this one has adjustable spacing. Anyone know how you would adjust the spacing on this thing and whether this one would work? Any other advice? Thanks. http://www.allparts.com/BB-0318-010-Chrome-Schaller-Bass-Bridge_p_546.html
Check out this one http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/bridge_genuinefender.htm, deluxe chrome model says "bolt-on replacement for string-through two saddle bridges used on Tele bass and 50's P Bass". This Fender bridge 005-8396-000, is sold as a direct replacement for Fender basses with a 2-saddle bridge. Here's one on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-FEN...047?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item4d09ea8847 All the best, Bob
Just want to mention that the replacement bridge mentioned does not have the 4 screw pattern. There are 7 holes in the bridge behind the saddles, 3 for mount screws and 4 for string thru body basses. Provided the two existing holes line up, you would have to line up and drill 1 hole. See photo:
