Bright Short Scale Strings

    I am trying to find some strings for my Gretsch Junior Jet that are similar to Dunlop Super Brights or DR Hi Beams. I know that DR makes Hi Beams in “short” scale but I see they are longer than most for some reason. Does anyone know if these will fit or maybe know of a different string that sounds similar? I am currently using the D’Addario EXL160S, which are just ok in my opinion.

    D'Addario makes a Pro Steels set in the short scale: EPS170S. The Pro Steels, as the name implies, are Stainless Steels strings, thus brighter than the XL Nickel series.

    Interesting. I’m sure they would be brighter but it looks like they only make them in light gauge. Considering I tune in D standard they may get a little floppy, hard to say.

    The brightest short scale strings that I've ever come across were La Bella Super Steps. YMMV.
