I'm not electronically trained so sorry for the stupid question. I'm gonna disassemble my gamecube soon since I rather use it for something than sell it for a cheeseburger. Have you guys ever taken a fan off something then used it for an amp? I'm thinking perhaps I can take the gamecube fan off and use it for my Ampeg V-4. Does this sound stupid? :meh:. Be honest....I can accept criticism for my stupid ideas. Thanks guys!

    To be honest, yes.

Your prebuilt amp will already have enough airflow to keep it cool since the manufacturer doesn't want half of their shipments coming back dead.

  4. Hi.

I've done such things quite a bit and they're not that hard, recycling stuff is always considered environmentally friendly, but there's a few things to consider.

    Mainly this:

While poking around in the gamecube's internals is safe as long as it's not connected to the wall, the same CAN NOT be said about the V-4.

I'd also be surprized if the GC's fan was a line voltage model, they're usually 12V fans. That would mean installing a 12V transformer just to power the fan. Not worth it IMHO.

    Regards
    Sam

thanks sam! yeahhh that's what i was worrying about. what type of fan would i need so it could work just fine with the v-4? i'm just trying to get some knowledge. not saying i need one. jsut thought if the GC fan could work maybe it'd be a neat little addition.

If you get a rubbermaid tub, a 150W HPS security light, a pyrex baking tube, a dual outlet aquarium pump, some 4" dryer ducting, some perlite, and some general hydro nutrient solution you could use it to have a closet fulla "tomatoes"

    So I've heard anyway... :ninja:

You should throw it in your old parts that you'll never use box. Just in case...
