Bronze strings on an electric?

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by jenderfazz, Mar 14, 2004.

  1. Acoustic basses tend to have bronze strings, no? Has anyone ever tried putting them on an electric? This is out of pure curiosity, by the way.

I remember reading a post about a guy who put on a set of TI acousticores and I think it was on an electric with a maple neck and he pulled them cause he said the bronze came off onto the neck and his fingers - which sounds wierd but stranger things happen. But it may have been on acoustic.
  3. Is bronze magnetic??
If not the pickups will not detect them.

My mom is an antique dealer and her that is exactly her trick to finding real bronze, a magnet. If the magnet doesn't stick, it is bronze. If it does, it isn't bronze.

So then no, I doubt they would because of their lack of magnetism.
