Yet Another Tonestack Calculator

Interactive tonestack (tone stack) calculator for guitar amps and pedals. Compare frequency response curves of Fender, Marshall, Vox, Hiwatt, and more while tweaking controls and component values in real time.

Very cool tool, but looks guitar specific.

That being said, when trying to visualize/understand my traynor yba200, selecting the "fender trebble/mid/bass" design and going with 1.5/10/1 for bass/mid/treble knobs, you can get a flat response that i have been told about years ago, and that my ears hear.

But the app has the ability to put in wiring diagram specific values. anyone with more understanding/knowledge able to reproduce an orange ad200 or yba200? i historically saw them as fender tone stack style passive eq, but it also seems like the ad200 is a bit different.

The AD200B Mk III tone stack is straight Fender TMB bones. The component values are a bit different. To my ears my AD200B sounds and responds very similar to my TFL5005D Showman Reverb, which is basically a Twin Reverb in head format. The AD200B is closer to Fender than any non-Fender amp in my collection.

The Volume control on this schematic is in the same place as the Volume on Non-Master Fenders. The AD200B has a Gain control on the grid of the tube section that drives the tone stack. If you want Fendery, max out the Master and use the Gain to set level. If you dial back the Master, the Gain control easily pushed the tube into drive.

thanks for this. back in the day the yba200 was likened to the ad200 with fender style tone stacks. i found something more recent suggesting the orange was a hybrid a blend james/baxandall style… but i am thinking that was internet noise.

would be fun to ab compare them again now that i have both. did many moons ago but not in the best setting.

edit: was putting in numbers into the calculator and then found your post where you did it first. flat is near identical to the traynor. now i will look for yba200 specs

Think OR200 rather the AD200. The old Orange amps made by Matamp used a James tone stack.

There are lots of bass amps with Fender-based tone stacks. The way they sound and respond to adjustment varies pretty widely. Changing component values modifies tone and how the circuit responds. Additionally, many companies add components so the user can flip switches and change the behavior of the tone stack.

Marshall and Hiwatt tone stacks look fairly similar to Fender TMB tones. But there are some minor difference in how components are connected.

That calc works really nice!
I used the components from my amp and it's pretty spot on. My tone stack...

The yellow curve is with the EQ switch closed. I chose to get the scoop in the 350Hz range, helps clean up the "muddy" part of the spectrum.
