A friend of mine just bought this NBS-Xtreme 5. One of these days I might figure out how to capture some of the detail of the woods he's using. Here's my latest weak attempt at photography;)

Hard to tell from the pic but the dark figure runs up and then across the fretboard.

This bass sounds very similar to my Spalted K5B. Other than the top and shape they're very similar in construction.

Poppy quilt...That sounds like something my grandfather would say if he spoke English.
"Oh poppy quilt...you kids and your loud music" :D

I'm seriously digging those Brubakers though. My one qualm on this one is the knobs though.

Looks to me like its maple, maybe. Then "poppy quilt" would be just a descriptive term for a kind of quilt (just as flame maple is not literally on fire).

Your photog ability looks great to me! I just don't think you had a lot to work with in terms of wood color and spalt figure.

Plus, the typical "Bart black" hardware doesn't help much.

Still, all that doesn't mean squat. I bet it sounds wonderful.

    NIce bass.

Brad, is there anyway you could provide a sound sample? I would love to hear a Brubaker.

What do we all think of that REALLY sweet one on the bay for $2400... real clean, sunburst, natural binding. Looks sweet, but I can't tell the pups... look a bit like lane poors.

    here she is: Bru' NBS
