SOLD BSX Allegro 4 String Nutmeg

For sale BSX Allegro 4 string in almost new condition. Removable neck. 3 band EQ. Nutmeg colour. This is a 41" scale instrument, so it plays like a standard 3/4 upright.
$1700. Shipping depends on your locale, but as a guide it was $75 from PA to WA when I got it.

Bought direct from Dino (the maker) in PA in 2007. Has been kept in non-smoke environment.

Includes a really nice gig bag ($125) direct from BSX... not the cheaper bags I've seen others have included with their Allegros. Also, the strings are upgraded to Helicore Hybrid which provides a much smoother sound than the stock strings... especially for bowing.

Only one caveat: I never got comfortable with the 'belly rest' and tried modifying it a few times, so as you can see from one photo, the paint is stripped off. It is completely functional otherwise. If you're picky, I guess you can get a new one from Dino. I simply stopped using it.

Do your research. This is considered one of the, if not the best, EUBs around. It is much more 'satisfying' for the player than other EUBs because unlike others it does have some resonance. And the audience sound is simply amazing... frankly, often much better than a mic-ed upright (blasphemy I suppose) but for any gig like salsa, rockabilly, big band, where you need amplification and just want to plug in and -know- you'll get a great sound? This is it. You'll also find it surprisingly rugged and well made.

I'm selling it simply because it sits in the corner nowadays and really should be -played- live.
