my btb6 d string tuner is having problems. the shaft that the string wraps around seems to have "detached" from the part w/ the knob that is twisted by hand. does that make any sense?

I've put the shaft part back in, tightened it w/ a screwdriver - etc, but when i tighten it (new strings), it just snaps and detaches again.

Anyone have any ideas or had this problem? I'm kind of extremely broke, so if it involves buying a whole new tuner, I'm going to have to shelve my 6 for a while (leaving me w/ my OLP 4 hehe).

Is the bass under warranty? That should be covered under warranty.

it'll be a year old in august - but, i've peformed a few minor surgeries to it (nothing relating to the tuners - de-fret, etc), so I'm sure they'll say something like 'warranty void'.

had to snap (read: break) off the little metal cap that govers the gear.. the screw holding the shaft onto the gear had stripped (not quite sure how - not exactly something that gets a lot of use). bought a similar sized screw @ Home Depot (open til midnight here, even on Memorial day!), trimmed it to size, and all fixed. going to have to find something to replace the cap, but that'll be easy.
