Sad how many great bassists I first hear of when they pass...

That was the exact same thing I thought when I heard of Buell Neidlinger’s passing on NPR’s Fresh Air today.

Thanks for flagging this. Its a shame that for some great players, recognition doesnt come until they die. Barbara Striesand not giving him a credit on a Star is Born sucks.

The moral is get s lawyer. I think is what Louis Johnson had to do to get his piece of Billy Jean from MJ.

    Ha!

I think the moral of the story is MJ "borrowing" from: Daryl Hall & John Oates - I Can't Go For That (No Can Do). :bassist:

That mean Louis Johnson borrowed since he did get that writing credit.

While I would liked to have seen MJ be a little more generous with his sharing the songwriting credits... I am unable to find Louis E. Johnson with a "Billie Jean" songwriting credit.

    BMI - Louis Johnson

    "Billie Jean"

Oh well, I understand that he got some sort of money for it.

That is VERY possible. A tip of the hat. But unfortunately, not a 50-year stream of "mail box" royalty income.

Thanks for posting this. I love Neidlinger's open hearted approach to music; it's sad the folks I grew up with (musically speaking) are passing - though I am happy that the young 'uns are coming up in spades.
