I’m going to stretch my morning jogs out an extra couple of miles because my bathroom scale told me to. My playlist needs some fresh meat to keep my mind off the laborious task ahead. I’m on a P Bass with rounds kick, and I’m looking for some lesser-known tracks. Any genre, pick, fingers, perhaps some funky slap. I’ve already got Mars Cowling, Bruce Thomas, Mike Watt, JJ Burnel, Burke Shelley, Dusty Hill, and Gerry McAvoy covered. Perhaps fellow TB’ers could suggest some of their own music.
    Thx!

    • Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell – "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" (1967)
      James Jamerson on bass
    • Donny Hathaway (Live) – "Voices Inside (Everything Is Everything)" (1972)
      Willie Weeks on bass
    • Gladys Knight & The Pips – "Midnight Train to Georgia" (1973)
      Bob Babbitt on bass
    • Little Feat (Waiting for Columbus Live) – "Spanish Moon" (1978)
      Kenny Gradney on bass
    • Honorable Mention: Linda Ronstadt (Live in Hollywood) – "You're No Good" (recorded 1980, released 2019)
      Bob Glaub on bass
The first four are probably flats, the last two are probably rounds.

As much as I love flats, in this thread, I want songs with rounds...and this is a good one. Played it at my last two gigs and I LOVE it.

EDIT AFTER YOUR EDIT: I played it with nickel rounds on my P, and it sounded great, so it counts. :D

I’ve got Travers in the playlist already mainly because of Mars. He was amazing.

I love playing this on a P-Bass w/rounds but it was originally done on a Jazz I believe.

Not sure if you're into prog, but Dave Hope got a great sound from that P bass.

He was still using a Jazz Bass(with the Gibson pickup), and, by all accounts, flats, so that fails to meet the criteria requested by the thread.

So far I’m up to 10 songs and 42 minutes. That’s around 700-800 calories. Keep up the good work.

Anything with Kenny Gradney. This guy does not get anywhere near the recognition he deserves.

One of my favs from way back, Day at the Dog Races. Relentless groove, and guaranteed to make you run an extra mile!:roflmao:
