building my own bass

    considering building my own bass. never done it before. any advice ?

    For starters.....

    Be prepared to make mistakes. Lots of mistakes.

    Make sure you buy/inherit/borrow a 'good' drill press and a 'good' pin router. And invest in a 'good' workbench**.

    Have a look on http://www.lmii.com/ and http://www.stewmac.com/ for advice and publications. There are loads of books out there, get reading!

    **(Definition of 'good' = not cheap)

    Check out the "Luthier's Corner" subforum and you'll get all the advice you could ever want. Me, I don't know a thing about it, but over there... have fun!
