I'm bored at work, and looking for suggestions of cool, unique pedals to add to my board.

I've recently upgrade my cabs, and have been using a different bass most of the time. So my pedalboard has lost a few items, since I don't find the need for them with my current setup. Anyway, I'm thinking about adding a bass synth and/or octaver, delay, possably another (tamer) fuzz...I'm a tone freak, so true-bypass is important. What would you guys add to this board if it was yours?

Heres a pic (photoshoped out a sansamp programmable, and an aphex punch factory...since they're on the chopping block). Help me fill the space :D

Oh yeah, I play mostly loud rock/metal/stoner type of stuff. And I'm using a passive bass.

That would be nice...If only I didn't have to battle 5,000 people on ebay to end up paying $400+ for one. Good suggestion though.

I bounce between a 4 and 5 string, and sometimes an upright, I'd recomend a bassbone. It's very handy.

synth - the ibanez bass synth is good
octave - the boss octave is good
delay - digitech delay is amazing
    fuzz - zoom ultra fuzz

    Try these items:

    BJF Blueberry Od
    Hao Rust Ride
    Frantone Lo-tone
    A wah of your preference
    A phaser of your preference
Possibly a light reverb to add depth

If you are trying to do a two piece with no guitar I would also suggest the Soldano overdrive.

This is the only stuff I heard used on bass in stoner rock. Delays, nope. Synth bass, nope again.

Hell, most bassists in that genre go the "cord-to-tube amp" route.

    Good luck,
    Adam

Soldano makes an od pedal? Is it a guitar pedal that works well with bass? Ever use it?

Right now I'm in a 3-piece, I wan to add some cool atmospheric type parts to our stuff which I thought delay and/or some synth stuff might be cool.

Interested in the Lo-tone fuzz & Blueberry...any experience with them?

Soldano makes a guitar overdrive that is very gritty. Supposed to simulate a cranked Soldano head minus the 2500 dollar price tag.

Ever heard of Big Business? If I were to start a band like Big Business, the Soldano would be my standard tone.

I own both the Lotone and the Blueberry. Both are great pedals. Pricey, but great.

For the octave, I suggest the Digitech Bass Synth Wah.
I know it isnt true Bypass, but get a looper and it will be.
The Octave is the best of any I've tried. The Synths aren't bad, either, but I never use 'em.

The Deep Impact is great and is true bypass, but as you said,$$$$!!!!

And great sig by the way...

hey does anyone know if that new Line 6 Bass Podxt is any good? From what I understand pedals usually sound better than these digital boards... but what do you guys think?

I once had impure thoughts. Oh, and I pluck my ear hair.
Digitech Bass Synth Wah. You can do soooooooo much with it and do it well, too.

Looks like this might be the first addition, due to its price and reviews around here.

Kind of off topic, but my experience (about 1hr in a store) is its a great amp modeler. I wasn't crazy about the effects. But if you want alot of versatility in a rig it could be cool. Probably excellent in a studio setting. Not really my thing per se though,

Anyway, thanks for the great suggestions guys...I'm thinking about a Prunes & Custard - but never tried one...any thoughts on those?

Magic box of fairy dust, man. Totally awesome IMO but you might hate it. It does a great rendition of both the Deeper Underground bass synth sound, and also with a bit of Tweaking a very passable Hysteria sound.

Whats a good effect pedal, or combination of pedals, that can create cool atmospheric ambient tones?
