Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by ZenG, Dec 25, 2014.

  1. Ok.....you can take any part from any bass or aftermarket bass parts including custom-made bodies, necks etc....anything and everything....

and put them all together to make your dream bass........

What did you have in mind....?

Fender Duff McKagan Signature Bass neck + Fender Roger Waters Signature Bass body = my dream bass!

I already have the neck, now I just need the body.

I've said it before and I'll say it again…

Black Reggie Hamilton body + Export Model Aerodyne neck, with the possibility of some re-working of the electronics. It all depends on whether or not I like the Reggie-sig sound. (I still haven't had the chance to get my hands on one…dammit!)

Endorsed by K.B. Guitars, Nordstrand Audio Pickups, Von York Strings and Gallien-Krueger Amps.
One made with koa wood, abalone inlays, gold hardware and maybe some Nordstrand pickups.

This probably doesn't count, but it's already in the works, not by me, it's a 22" scale custom by Bruce Herron of Blue Star Guitar in Michigan. I bought all the hardware and strings then sent it to him. He's also making the bridge plate. Tele Bass2.jpg .

It would be a short scale utilizing a custom-made, high quality replica of my Squier Jaguar SS neck, With a hi-grade American Alder body (heavy stain finish). It would have professional grade hardware with custom wound pickups to my exact specifications.

Right now? Lowe Custom Guitars Ridler bass body in swamp ash, with a Little Guitar Works Torzal Twist Neck, in 32" scale, with a undotted/unmarked Pao Ferro fretboard. Electronics are either Nordstrand MM4.4 or Nordstrand Bigman, the first with the East 3-band preamp and 4 way for the pickup, the second with the Nordstrand 2-band and a volume for each coil. In Sherwood Green.

Don't even know if possible, but thats the dream right now.

Not from existing parts, would have to be custom built, but since I got my '72 Earthwood and '37 Regal, I've been dreaming of a long scale archtop jazz style bass - with the body scaled up to match, of course, in 2 models: 1 with a 41" scale strung with upright strings, and one in the 39.something scale used on my Knuckle Quake, strung with the same extra-long extra-thick electric bass strings. Kinda like the one in pnchad's avatar, only biggerer. (And 5 string, fretless, of course.) :D

The bass in my avatar is my dream bass. While I have other basses, if I were told I could only own 1 bass for the rest of my life, with no opportunity to change, my Alembic would be it. I wouldn't change a feature on it. It is as close to perfection, IMO, as a bass could be. That being said, I have a 1A dream bass being built. It's a NYC Sadowsky in Sherwood Green that I've had in my mind for some 15 to 20 years. It should end up complementing the Alembic nicely.

    Happy Holidays,

  12. It would pretty much be my Spector Rebop 5 with Hipshot Ultralites and a bridge that I didn't hate. The former I can do something about. The latter, not so much.
