Building your own bass

So I've got this crazy idea to build my own bass except I can't work wood for the life of me. I've designed the bass and know what i want and everything.
The neck is going to be a P-Bass neck most likely with a fender headstock too. The body is basically going to look like if a Hofner Violin Bass and an EB3 and an ugly baby. Contours of a violin bass with the cutaways like an EB3, but rounded and kind of curvy(think ram horns) Anyway, I was going to hit up local wood shops and try to find someone who can make the body. Anyone know of custom guitar shop that would do it for me though? I would rather trust it to the professionals rather than some guy who makes tables. And if you just want to rant about the body style, go ahead. I don't care.

Oh and if anyone knows a shop in Houston I could do this, much appreciated

EDIT: advice on woods would be appreciated and I also need to know the narrowest and widest points of a Hofner if anyone knows
