I put .65-.115 guage nylons on my fretless P, and the G is too big for the nut...

How can I go about replacing the nut, which nuts are best, and do i need to send it to a specialist to get done?

You don't have to have it replaced, you just need to get the current one filed out a bit. Anyone worthwile guitar tech should be able to handle it. Or if you are feeling brave, you could do it yourself.

  3. For clarity lets establish that its .065" and not .65". That is going to make a sizable difference.

Your new G is about the same size as your old D. The easiest, idiot proof way of enlarging your G slot is to take the old D string and "saw" it back and forth through the G slot lightly a couple of times. The idea is not to deepen the G slot but to simply widen it. Be careful and it will be fine.
