By way of introduction,,,

Hi everyone,,,just to say hi, and about me,,,I'm 73, been playing guitar for 60 years(in January coming), and now, it seems that I've noticed something I like about bass. I've alway been aware of it, and had several, along the way, since I'm primarily a recordist, and need to use one.
I blame Neural DSP, as I needed a good bass amp sim, and back in the spring, I got the DarkGlassUltra B7K plugin, and this was far and away the best I've had,,,I have a hardware Tech21 BassDriverDI,,, but, the DarkGlassUltra gets it. For the time being,,,there are more I'm looking at, too.
So, I've been looking into this big world, of string investigation, and I got a decent Fender Player Precision, and I'm just loving it!
I found TalkBass because a good friend of mine, a member here, mentioned it, and I have another friend in Lafayette(I'm in bayou country) who is a member here, too.
I have Bitwig(don't use at present, but have it), and Presonus StudioOne Professional Six, and the one I use mainly, Universal Audio Luna,,,since they've gone native and all and sundry can avail themselves of it. I do like Luna,,,

Thank you! I really enjoy reading the Forum!

That's something, how that goes,,,isn't it pcake! All of a sudden I'm madly in love with it, and I can say that I feel I have License AND Agency to say that I'm just a little tired of the guitar. Bass is like playing guitar under a microscope,,,everything is so much bigger! LOL, and my hands have room to move!
Thanks! This isn't the new Player II series,,,but still has a 2024 serial number, and I'm more than happy with it. You won't be sorry you picked up the DarkGlass,,,I'm eyeing the Parallax, next,,,,,

60 years is impressive. I can only imagine the stories and knowledge you have to share with the community here based on that kind of experience. Thank you for joining and hanging around.

Thanks Mike! I appreciate that. I haven't played in electric bands since the early 80's,,,my time was in the 60's and 70's primarily...cover stuff. Starting with the 80's I grabbed my Berklee material(I did a semester there in Spring 72) and plunged in, and also, at that time, I got a Fostex X-15 4 track tape machine and got into recording,,,then the 90's was spent learning to play fiddle,(pushing a song/dance troupe with it,,,toured France twice, Nova Scotia, Ky, Fl, and all over Louisiana), love Irish fiddle and Irish banjo, and also Old Time Appalachian fiddle and 5 string banjo, too,,,though I always played guitar, along the way, and come Y2K I got into recording seriously with a Tascam 788, first off, then another couple standalone units, and then into computers. last 5 years or so, seriously into my own brand of weirdness, Modern Rock, Metal, etc., and then, in the last year,,,bass! So, I'm conversant with just about all string inst. except for cello and stand up bass. Other instruments, too,,,harp, hurdy gurdy, middle eastern inst and I've studied North Indian Classical music a bit, too.
I always come back to my Rock Roots, though...it seems. I Love PNW in the 90's and then Modern Rock, and some(not all) Metal, along the way, too.

Aww yeah, the PNW in the 90's. I lived there during that time. I can still remember when we went from relatively unknown to the big time and people started calling our music grunge.
