I found the Parker and Stone comments interesting.

OTOH, if he doesn't want to do it, it's his choice.

An interesting point that deserved to be made.

I've watched South Park alongside many a friends who laugh and laugh at any and all episodes, up until they finally hit a sore spot, and then they quiet watching the show. Satire is always funny until it's turned back on ourselves.

For a minute, I thought you were talking about TB's own Chef...in which case I'd be sad, because he's a nice guy and should stick around.

But since you're talking about South Park...I don't care.

Wow...I have to back Trey and Matt on this one...as much as I like Isaac Hayes, the Christian episodes were hilarious (faith +1, the ep about molestation, and the one with the Passion) and he obviously had no problems with any part in them. It seems though that the Scientology ep has caused quite a stir, which because of Tom Cruise, CC says it will never air that ep again. Wow. Hard to believe that people who have faith that we come from aliens lack a sense of humor.

About the entire show going away...I am not.

About Chef....I recognize the picture of the dude, but that is all. That show is too crude for me to watch more than 30 seconds worth.

Isaac Hayes did one or two things before Southpark:

  14. I was never a fan of South Park, but if they come on when I have nothing else to do, I'll watch them.

Sure, it's a rude series, but people who do not watch it - who have never seen an episode - just think that it is 30 minutes of people swearing. True, there is some rude language not intended for kids, but most of the shows have a good message at the end that make you think.

  15. maybe CC squirted water at tom cruise too :p

Whatever. I year ago I would have been angry, but I'm honestly sick of south park. Most of season 9 sucked, and season 10 is their last. (source: various interviews).

It's like the show has gone from trying to be funny to trying to offend people.

That said, I think Isaac is overreacting and the Scientology episode is hilarious.

I've been digging South Park since my local cable company picked up Comedy Central several years ago. The show definitely hasn't lost its edge, even if a little more crude.

Isaac does have the right to leave whenever he wants.

And if I were hanging out will Billy Sheehan and I said "Man, I think those Scientologists are just full of it" and he got offended, I woudln't be suprised or blame him.

But what Isaac is doing is full of it, as long as the jokes don't apply to his religion he's okay with South Park crapping on everyone else.
