Cab frequency response

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Duncan Kempson, Mar 11, 2004.

  1. Hi Guys

I am looking to get a 115 cab which has in the specs that its frequency response goes down to 37hz. I understand that a low B on a 5 is at 30hz. Is this a problem if a play a 5???
TIA I really appreciate all the help here on TB

Hi Duncan, 37 Hz actually sounds pretty good. There are few cabs that go that far down. It shouldn't be a problem with a 5 string. If you have a "normal" sound, and you're playing "normal" gigs, a 37 Hz cab should be fine. There's not much below that anyway, maybe the big subs or something. If you like lots of low frequency fundamental, just make sure you don't crank the amp up too high. If you hear your speakers start to complain (if they sound like they're getting farty at high volumes), back off on the volume or the low frequency EQ.
  3. Thanks
I dont play particularly hard or low, mainly fingerstlye funk/soft rock, so this seems ok. Thanks again for the help
