Hey, I have stuck with the Crate BX50 for a year, but I think I need more power. I am considering buying 2 Crate BX215e cabinets, along with either a Gallien Krueger, or a Hartke head. I wanted to know... 1. How do I know if the head is compatible with both the cabinets? 2. Can I use 2 cabs with 1 head... does it have anything to do with the "Ohms"? 3. Any additional info, suggestions, please. Thanks alot. Craig
I assume the Crate cabinets you mentioned are the 2-15" cabinets. They are rated at 4 ohms each. To run them both you need a mono head that can drive 2 ohms (two 4 ohm cabs in paralel) or a stereo head that can drive 4 ohms per channel (one cab on each channel). The stereo Hartkes (5000, 7000) will drive those cabinets OK. The other heads (1400, 2000, 3000, 3500, 4000) will NOT. As for GK, only the 2000RB (their biggest, most expensive) will drive those two cabinets. ANY of the Hartke or GK heads will drive ONE of those Crate cabinets OK.
