so its comin down to this im either thinkin a mesa 4x10 or epifani 4x10 but the real question is wheter i should get it at 4ohm or 8ohm. i have a big block 750 and i would be running the 4x10 alone untill i save up money to add a 2x10 or 1x15.
    what do you guys think?

If you know that you are going to add a cab you should get an 8 ohm cab...unless you are running a pre/power setup and can run 4 ohms to a side.

...or if your amp can handle 2 ohms. (Two 4 ohm cabs)

The Big Block can handle 2 ohms. The only question I'd really have is whether or not you'd be thinking of swapping out the head for something that can't do 2 ohms ever? If you got 2 8-ohm cabs, then you'd be at 4 ohms and should be set for every head out there right now. If you bought 2 4-ohms, and then decided you wanted a different head, you may be slightly more limited in selection.

Personally I'd go with 2 8-ohm cabs anyways.

I considered the same things and came up with the opposite conclusion.

My Eden D210XLT and D410XLT are both 4 ohms. That way if I use them alone with just about any head (except for a few) I will be pulling maximum power. When I run them together I use a PLX 2402 which goes down to 2 ohms per side anyway.

I have two 4 ohm Eden 410XLT's, this allows me to use a large amount of power in 4 ohm mode and when I use both, I get everything my 400+ has through the 2 ohm mode.

True, you will be limited to a shorter lists of amps if you chose to go a different route with amp heads in the future because of 2 ohm capability, but it may make the selection much easier.

Get the 4 ohm and use the head's power - you can always turn your volume down. Plus you will have headroom for days! Always a plus!

Since the BigBlock 750 was at the top of my list, (at one time), and since it develops it's full power with a 2 ohm load, I'd go for 2 4 ohm cabs. I ended up with another head that only does 4 ohms, but had I got that Mesa, I would've added another Epifani UL 212 to my rig, yessir. Unless you're going to lose that head and get something else, 2x4 ohms is the way to go.

Have them order the ones you want. It may take a bit, but you'd have what you want.

The only thing doubling the power will get you is 3dB louder. That's almost insignificant.

You already get 3dB by adding the second cab (doubling the number of drivers).

Don't base your decision solely on power considerations. It's also easier to resell an 8-ohm cabinet.
