OK talkbass. Recommend me a small 2x10 1x12 or 1x15 cab that will work well with either my GK 700rb or my vintage ampeg V4. I already have 2x15 and 8x10 cabs for bigger gigs so I'm really just looking for something for small bar gigs.
A good cab for solid state and tubes.
Oh, and I like to play five strings.
    Thanks TB!

Good question. 400 bucks or so. Looking for something used.

For a single standalone cab, a 2x12 is about the smallest I would go, for anything other than the very smallest rooms, and the very quietest volumes. Otherwise, two 1x12 cabs.

Given your budget and the fact that you're already rocking a 700RB-II (I assume it's mark II?), try the GK Neo 212-II.

Another vote for the GK Neo 212.

I'm using the GK700RB with a GK 212 Neo I. Love the matchup. I also add a MB115 combo for larger stages.

    I use a GK NEO212-II with my Peavey Tour 700 Head (500W in 8ohms).
    Best cab i've played.

Thanks for the reply's guys. I've been looking at the 2x12 but I was thinking it wasn't much smaller than my old 2x15 peavey cab. I could be wrong. That's why I was thinking about a smaller cab. I can imagine that a GK cab would work killer with the GK head but I wonder how it would pair with the ampeg tube head.

They are pretty small. About 50lbs. They make a 112 also

Even the Neo 412 is hardly the size of a 215 and its under 100lbs

Agree on the GK 212 as an option - another alternative would be the Ampeg 212AV. Probably wouldn't find one used, since they haven't been around long, but maybe. Killer 212 cab, that is often paired with the V4B re-issues (and people really seem to like that combo)

    Love me some 212s

That might just be the ticket. Get rid of the 215 and go with the 212 altogether. I'm sure the 212 beats the old peavey cab in every respect anyway.

  16. If you can find a Genz NX2 2x12 cab for your budget, that would be my recommendation. Better in every way IMO than the GK neo 212, and I have owned and gigged both. The Genz is a slightly better shape IMO also for moving and for stage dispersion.
The GK is good, but the Genz is awesome.
I pair it with a GK 1001RB and an Orange AD200B and it's a great match for both. In fact it has worked very well for anything I have paired it with.

Theres a GK 1X12 in the classified section. Also if you go with the 212 and like it you can always grab a second and cover your big rig needs with 2. Even the 412 is pretty easy to move. I dont think it will fit in the Cuda though. Your wheel tubs will be in the way.

I was checking out that 1x12 in the classifieds. I see it's the first version not the second. Not sure what the big differance is.
I'm sure neither would fit in the back of the cuda but you'd be surprised what you can fit in the back of a pt cruiser.

The big difference is the dimensions. They changed the 112 and 212 so they would stack with the 115 and 410 cabs. Not much else. My old 212 was from the first series.

I love my GK Neo 212-II. Still, I've recently become intrigued with Avatar's new SB126. If you got one with the optional Kappalite 3012LF I'm kind of thinking it could be fantastic. And still under $400 new! Can't wait to see some TBers review these puppies.
