Cable length effect Volume?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by rougeporn, May 6, 2004.

  1. Hi, I have just made my own cable from a cable with broken jacks and 2 neutriks ends, the cable is approx 20". One thing I've noticed is a significant (maybe 40%) volume drop when I use this cable as apposed to my short ernie ball cable. I am informed the cable i cannibalised is 'quality' and the neutriks plugs were new. Is this normal? Would this be an effect of bad soldering (not that my soldering is bad)? The new neutrix ends allow the shielding to not be soldered but just traps it between the plastic coller and the body of the plug so would this effect?? I dont see how but ya never know?? Im so confused. Maybe neutrix plugs are high resistance? please help.
