I like the lakland 55-01's better than any of the other skyline's. anybody else feel like this? i just feel its slap tone is impressive while retaining a pretty bitchin fingerstyle tone. just wonderin.

oh yeah i dont own ANY laklands. just to clarify:bawl:

whatever you felt you liked better to your ear, its better to you! :)

When you tried the bass, how was each bass setup? Its like sayin that "I played a MIM Fender that can kill a MIA Fender". Depends on the situation.. unless you truly love the sound more than the other bass.

I tried a Skyline 55-02 at Nino's house.. had some imperfections that were definitely noticable, where my Squier P Bass doesn't even have!!!

Skyline 55-01s don't really cost much! Save up!

nah its not so much a save up thing. i was just wondering if i was the only one that actually prefered the tone of the 01. as an old schooler i was very careful to check their set up and run them through the same amp, same apparent loudness ect. my next bass will either be a 01, 02 or an essex jazz. dont really need any gigging basses because i am satisfied with the 2 i have. was just wanting other opinions of just the bare tone, money not a figure.

    1) The one that will own that bass is you
    2) The one that feels like the bass sounds great = you
    3) The $ that will be spent is by you
    4) The one that will decide = you

Its all up to you man. There people that will tell their opinions. Its almost askin "Which one do you like? P-Bass or J-Bass?" Its all about apples & oranges :)

If you really prefer that tone, go for it

PS: I tried some Essexs at Rondomusic.. Man, if they have a good setup, change some pickups, they will great basses!

Basic Stock Essexs that i've played were as good as a MIM fender.. now the price is $129 compared to $250-350 for a MIM
