    Time for a deep thinking question;

    What was the VERY FIRST bass riff/song you ever did learn?

    Mine was Led Zeppelin's "Dazed and Confused"

    What was your's?
  2. mine was the very beginning of the Allman Brothers Whipping Post

  5. Rush, The Spirit of Radio. I think the first hundred or so bass riffs/songs I learned were by Rush. :)

  8. Mine was a basic 12 bar blues walk in A :) I still use the same fingerings when I'm tired and not thinking... Or when I'm 'tired & emotional' and someone wants to jam on something ;)
    That was followed by Herbie Hancock's Chameleon.

    The guitar riff to Smoke on the Water, by ear! But the real first bass riff was Money by Pink Floyd (either that or Suck My Kiss... that was less than a year ago and I can hardly remember!)

    Hotel California.

    I played guitar for a while and my friend was like "buy a bass and learn this 40 songs and play at our show"

    I asked him when the show was and he said "23 days." haha. I was like alright, im kinda bored lets do this. Went to GC, bought a bass (drummer had a bass combo form his old band he let me borrow) and learned all 39 songs in 22 days haha. Took some serious commitment because they werent all easy songs for a beginner. hotel, sweet child of mine, wild nights, no rain (violent femmes), livin lovin made, time by floyd. Been into it ever since haha.

    I played guitar for many years before switching - but I remember spending a little time switching between playing along with Van Halen 1 and Garth Brooks' No Fences... weird mix!
